Ramadan in 2009

Ramadan is the annual religious observance for Muslims. It involves fasting, which is a form of sacrifice.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar of Muslims. It is the time to offer more prayer to Allah. During Ramadan, Muslims asked for forgiveness of the sins and for Allah to guide them in their day to day life.

In 2009, Ramadan will start on August 21, Friday. It will run for 30 days and will end on September 19, Saturday.

In Muslim calendar, a holiday starts on the sunset of the previous day. So for observing Muslims, Ramadan will start on the sunday of August 20, Thursday.

For us Catholics, let’s respect Ramadan. It is I think the equivalent of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday for us for we also fast during those days.
